Sub Zero in Cornwall

I have just been on a day trip abroad to Cornwall.

The car therometer reached -1.5 °C in the Glynn Valley A38 

just before Bodmin.

The trees and bushes were white with frost.

Quite pretty.

Back now in glorious Devon.

I too am venturing abroad tomorrow to St Cleer.

There were reports of snow flurries in Exmouth & Sidmouth but alas I see nothing falling here. DP below freezing so it's possible.

I haven't seen a hoar frost on trees since I was living Up Country.

No air frost in Penzance, though it got close last night. 0.8C.

Also there is an E-ENE breeze, but fairly gentle, less then the stiff easterly forecast. When the wind is aligned with the peninsula (as an ENE is) Penzance  always gets less wind than forecast, go around to ESE it's the reverse. A touch of model refinement required.

Yesterday at Perranuthnoe, also little wind & a clean wave. Cloud spreading in after a sunny morning. Maximum in Penzance yesterday 6.0C

Tuesday 9th - just inland from Nairn.

Impressive frost.

Max minus 3C, less cold on coast the places where fog persisted.  Fog rolled inland late afternoon.

My sister (in an email) cheekily asked if that frost picture was an AI creation.  Well, I have been known to fool with some impressive AI 'photos', but that one is absolutely genuine.

I'm probably stuck indoors today after freezing drizzle overnight.  Freezing rain (or drizzle) can produce the most slippery of all situations.
