One affect of this spring is for sand to accumulate in different spots to normal. In some places, such as NW facing Sennen, the sand is exceptionally low. The sand normally accumulates at the SW (NW facing) end of the beach in a SW wind. This is handy as it's right next to the beach car park. This is because in a SW wind, the wind blown surfact water moves NE past Cowloe (the rocks in the image below) and there is a SW flowing counter current along the beach, which also causes sand to accumulate against the east facing side of the harbour wall.
This is not happening and there's a great lack of sand and the normally busy end of the beach, it's all up at Gwenver (the next beach, joined to Sennen at low tide). We need a spell of SW winds with a decent swell to bring it
back.to bring it back. That area of rocks is normally covered.
Normal situation taken from below the beach restaurant next to the car park in the above picture.
Meanwhile, over at Praa Sands I've never seen anything like as much sand.
