It seems to be plotted roughly in the right position and it has the same temperature. Are there maybe two stations? I'll check it out tomorrow, I'm in the bath at the moment. Another scorcher in Easter Ross, it must have got up to at least 16 degs and it was sunny from late afternoon. We might even see some stars later this evening which will be a novelty.

We were very close to there a couple of days ago.

I can't see that there is anything wrong with the position I plot for Carpentras it's spot on as far as I can see.

The decode is correct for the maximum temperature.

It got warmer, Clermont over 41c, Brive, in my department almost 40c and likely to break it's all time record tomorrow.
Argentat in Correze, 40c and maybe another 3c to add tomorrow.
A miserly 35.6c here, equalling my 3 year old record, but excellent chance of 38 or 39c tomorrow.

No, I wasn't trying to suggest that you had plotted it in the wrong place.  I was just trying to work out exactly where the observing site is on the ground.  It does indeed seem to be behind the Météo France building that I found on Google Streetview   https://tinyurl.com/y2zhccp3 .

If you zoom in on the star in the "location" box at the top, that becomes apparent.

Hi Colin

Yes you're right.

You can pick it out on Google Earth quite well.

The site and enclosure look fine but the screen could do with some work by the looks of it.

You've now got me started playing that infuriating game called "Find the enclosure"!

Bruce.

Maybe we should all post pictures of our screen on Google Earth.

Mine's fairly clear

Graham

A bit close to the house to be anything but a class 3 for temperature by the looks of it.

Not perfect I agree, I could do with a bigger garden! Personally I'd rather live on a beach chalet on Gwithian Towans, but I'm not the only one making the decisions! At least it's over grass and still a wooden screen. I'm trying to get a 30 year record using the same instruments & screen type. I'm far from convinced a change to plastic wouldn't have some effect. Only 2 years to go.

It's more exposed than at looks, I'm in a valley that the wind off the sea tends to funnel up.  Another pic of the site here
http://www.turnstone-cottage.co.uk/weather.html  Stephen Burt had a look at it when he was in Cornwall, and thought it was fine.

A slightly bigger issue with the anemometer, too many trees around. I'm in a very gusty spot and mean speeds are much lower than on the immediate sea front.

I see Newquay's been the warmest spot on XCWeather all morning.
