Some very heavy rain 06:00-09:00. 22.8mm in the 24 hours to 09:00 today, almost all of which fell in that 3 hour period.

Also quite windy, recent 36kt gust at St Ives.

Sea state now much improved, swell height now down to a messy 8' at Sevenstones. Yesterday was quite something.

Sennen beach red flagged again, just at high tide today, rippy & blown out with the onshore F5. So 2 consecutive days have achieved what Storm Evert couldn't.

There was also an unexploded bomb found on the beach yesterday, you don't expect that sort of thing around here. It was in the dunes below the lifeguards hut, a very unstable part of the dunes, yesterdays big sea may have caused a bit of a slip, or perhaps some energetic holiday maker eroding the dunes uncovered it.

Quite a sunny afternoon. Penzance is quite sheltered from the WNW and the temperature has topped 19C, haven't checked the exact figure.

Beat you there. Graham.  27.0 mm at Hughes Hall - a series of heavy showers throughout the night.  No thunder heard, though.
