to Weather and Climate
As an ex-glider pilot with quite extensive understanding of mountain waves, I was only too aware how the surface winds can vary enormously over short distances : curl over, rotor, wave trough (increase in surface wind). Indeed, my experience was reinforced by a rather bad landing in extreme turbulence (shall we say, I broke the glider!)
On this Sunday morning 18th, there are marked waves over Scotland and the different winds can readily be seen on this link. It MIGHT NOT be accessible but give it a try.
