2022 is set to be the warmest year, but only by 0.1C over 2007.

More notable, to my mind, is the fact that December '22 is the first month with below average temperatures since August 2021!

A dry year, but is going to come in at No. 4 or 5 (since 1991). So why was there such a such a severe water shortage in Cornwall? OK, it was preceded by a dry 2021, but here in Penzance the 2021/2022 two year rainfall total is set to be well ove 100mm more than the 1995/96 total of 2021.4mm.

It was a very hot summer, so clearly nothing to do with  SW Water waiting until it was pouring with rain and it was no longer necessary to water crops, golf courses, gardens,  etc. before implementing a hosepipe ban. Thus allowing Cornwall's largest reservoir to drop to it's lowest level since it was constructed before they actually did anything.

Lucky it was a distinctly wet autumn.
