Considering i's breezy along the south coast, it's surprising how warm some exposed parts of the south coast are.

At 13:00 it was 22C at Portland, 23C at St Catherine's Point, the warmest spots in the UK, together with a few others, according to XcWeather). Now 23C in Penzance (13:25).

Hazy & cloudless. My pic from Vallendreath, Sennen @ 11:00. The beach would have been packed on a day like today 3 weeks ago.

The tide's exceprionally low so not even local swimmers/surfers until the tide starts coming in. Cornwall at it's best. In my opinion (biased) possibly the best beach in the world.

Webcam 13:30, tide now starting to return, people starting to arrive

Maximum of 23.8C, equally the highest late September record.
Highest Maximums
Early September (1st-15th)   27.0C (6/9/04)
Late September (16th-30th) 23.8C (16/9/03 & 19/9/24)
October 22.1C (13/10/01)

Sennen now the tides coming in, surf's smallish but is now clean.

Just checked XCWeather again, and still many of the warmest places seem to be on/near the coast.

At 18:00
23C Camborne (not a renouned warm spot!)
23C Plymouth
Portland & St Catherine's Point 22C

It was around 22C in Penzance at 18:00

The SST around the south & SW coast is generally near 17C.
It's a lovely warm evening.

St Michael's Mount 18:40, high water spring tide.
