Maximum of 6.8C in Penzancem after a minimum of 4.1C (wind alongshore).(1.7C minimum the previous night).

We seemed to be west of the area of strongest winds. The cliff top weather station at Lands End recorded gusts generally in the 30-35mph range, below the forecast 50-60mph, and most beaches in west Cornwall are sheltered from the east in any case. (Not Coverack, where the swim was sensibly cancelled). Overall I think we benefitted from the wind being aligned frwith the peninsula.

Marazion 10:00am Christmas Day. Positively benign.

A few people having a Christmas dip in calm waters, unlike Penzance prom, facing the wind rather more. Looking very different to the S Devon coast east of Berry Head where there was a nasty sea running down the channel. I was on Marazion beach 11am, it was colder than it looks!

Much reduced Atantic swell at Sennen (relative to recent weeks!) so hundreds at the official swim.

Under the careful watch of the RNLI.  Coldest Xmas swim for many years.

Still no air frost this autumn /winter.

Decent day today, glimpses of sun, less wind, still cold. Maximum just >5C. Sennen swimmers 11:30

Many weeks since there's been so little Atlantic swell.  Big blocking high over the Atlantic.
