The temperature reached 20.1C today, with the breeze largely aligned with the peninsula. The tip of Cornwall, west of Marazion / Hayle, is virtually an island, so if it gets warm this early a sea breeze off the sea, typically around 10-11C early April (though warmer the last few years) soon pegs the temperature back.
Previous earliest date for over 20C was 9th April 1997.
Absolutely stunning out at Sennen, a pint went down a treat. Even the breeze died right down. A real contrast to recent days, when the winds certainly have been a feature.
Probably the last day it will be this quiet on a warm sunny day until mid autumn.
The MetO temperature forecasts have been much better over the last year. They did forecast 18C today, but most days they are within 1C. The BBC temperature forecasts are rubbish. 15C forecast for today, as an example (13C for almost all the forthcoming week.) They seem rather locked to just above the SST, largely irrespective of wind direction.
