Penzance - 1st air frost since January 2024

Minimum of -1.3C last night. Easily the coldest night of the winter so far.

Given all the dire warnings for >65s from the MetO, I was reluctant to venture ouutside, but I took the risk.

Watched people swimming off the prom then this pic from Mousehole looking NE over Marazion towards Camborne.

There were showers just off the north coast, which quickly decayed into Sc as they went over land, the Sc decaying before it reached the south coast.

Just inland of parts of the north coast, particularly near Wadebridge, the showers survived long enough to give snow flurries just after dawn. 

A rare example of virtually no Atlantic swell in mid winter. Sennen 13:00. 

 

A beautiful morning for a brisk stroll, with little wind. In reality, the best day for a walk since the sunshine of Christmas Eve.

Mild mirk soon to return. 13C forecast for Sunday.
