Maximum temp today a paltry 28.0 compared with 29.1 on Monday.  The sky, although cloudless and nominally "blue", is far from that and a white milkiness extends to a considerable altitude.  There is probably a lot of Saharan dust up there.
Today, BTW, is the 65th anniversary of the most dramatic thunderstorm I have ever seen, the Horsham Hailstorm in 1958.  Details available in the Met. Mag. for October 1960.

Same here, it is very hazy and the sky is a bright white. Culdrose, Land's End & Scilly all reporting 9000m, so the haze starts at sea level. However, little effect on the light intensity, a very bright white sky.

Completely different to the Saharan dust event of 8th April 2011 when visibility at sea level was at least VG, but despite no cloud shadows were very faint and the light level was very low.  Almost like the light just before the total eclipse. The most extreme dust event I can remember.

Even warmer today, max 30.9, a 40-year September record.
The haze today was even thicker.  At 8.45 a.m. BST the sun appeared as if through thick Cs.  Just a bright glare with no edge yet I am certain there was no cloud in the proper sense.
Another observation was that nextdoor's tree with long hanging bits was absolutely motionless around 1400-1600Z.  This is not something you see in the height of summer - there's always a little puff this way or that regardless of the synoptic-scale gradient.
      Meanwhile, I perspire freely.

Not as hot here I'm very pleased to say, 24.7C today, my September record is 27.0C. Once again the north coast got over 27C.

Notable lack of sea breezes, the sea was still glassy late morning, the flags on the prom virtually motionless.
