Currently (21:30) 13C on Scilly, 5C in Plymouth, 0C at Bristol. So an 8C differance (near sea level) between Scilly & the Tamar.

Currently 11C in Penzance.

How far north will the mild air get before it starts to retreat again?

Proofreading is an art, which is why software (though good) isn't perfect. The best way is to read the piece out loud, preferably with someone to listen. If you just read in your mind, you see what you meant to write, not what you did. And reading it to someone else (or vice versa) might well get the question 'did you mean that?

Next then: advice please about  how to persuade a spouse to be interested in and to listen to, all the rubbish that most of us write:-)

Well, reading aloud is the part which helps you see the problems - the person you read to doesn't have to listen. You could even read to a pet. As all spouses are different I don't know how best to persuade yours. Maybe doing the washing up? Flowers? Chocolates? Clearing up after yourself?...

With my age-related mobility problems and profound hearing loss poor Stella has cheerfully taken on the role of carer and has plenty on her plate already.  Moreover, she has to put up with my pathetic sense of humour.  I can't ask more of an 80-year-old.

Just back from a walk in the snowy fields.
