Some of you may have heard of Alan Blake, at least a couple on this newsgroup have one of the sun recorders he co designed with Ole Larsen https://www.sunrecorder.net/
He lives just up the road from me, and sunshine figures I sometimes quote here are from him. His sunshine figures also appear in the COL monthly bulletin.
Sadly, he has passed away.
