The current MetO forecast for Penzance shows a grey cloud, raindrop & 40% chance of rain at 09:00 & 10:00.

In practice @ 09:25

I think the front approaching from the west died unexpectedly quickly. Some rain on the radar, which may have misled them, but no sign of anything reaching the ground. I'm never sure if the radar is showing a decaying front as it heads east, or is simply exaggerating the rain west of Scilly. It often shows a front decaying, but the actual rainfall figures at St Mary's compared to Penzance & Camborne do not support this. I suspect it's a mixture of the 2.

No overnight rain here, it all streamed north well to the east. The models did a good job showing where the fronts would stall several days ahead. They are very impressive these days.

Also, it's Spring, so if the sun comes out the forecast maximums are now likely to be low until at least mid summer, especially if the wind's offshore. So today's forecast maximum, despite "whole suns" forecast this afternoon, is just 10C. It was 10.4C @ 09:00 (and rising). think Len also finds the forecasts maximums for Plymouth low, especially April-June.

Plenty of dry weather now to dig out the compost. Main (unheated) Jubilee Pool open 6 days week from April. (The 7th day they rest)
