Is this the merry month of May?
A good soaking today with 20.5 mm.
Brings the total for May so far to 47.6 mm
May 30-yr average for Wembury is 62.2 mm

I took the liberty of asking Bard AI to turn that into rhyme:

Is this the merry month of May?

A soaking rain came down today,
Twenty and a half millimeters fell,
Bringing the monthly total to 47.6 as well.

Wembury's average May rainfall, you see,
Is 62.2 millimeters, historically.
So, we're a bit behind, that much is true,
But the month is young, there's more rain coming through!

For once I beat you, 26 mm yesterday and monthly total now at 76 mm.
My average for May is 54 mm (2005 - 2023).

Another month since July last year with more than average rainfall.

. . and for once Penzance is significantly drier.

Only 0.8mm in the 1st 11 days. 27.2mm on 12th/13th bringing the total to 28.0mm (until 09:00 today).
My average for May being 73.7mm (1991-2020).

Yesterday afternoon saw some pleasant sunny spells, the persistent rain clearing 11:30, but hangover of cloud & a little drizzle until 14:00.

I slightly overstated the months rainfall. Here are the actual figures

2024-05-17 12_11_16-Capture.png
No rain on 16th
Total to date 27.7mm
So still a fairly dry month here.

Camborne slightly more at 33mm
Lands End 22.8mm

Beautiful again today. The prom

Unstable air is just fine here (most of the time). Its drizzly warm sectors in a F5-6 SW we hate.
