Set to be the warmest day of the year in Cornwall. Quite hot near the north coast where the gradient wind is too strong for a sea breeze to develop.

23C at St Mawgan cliff top airport (Newquay) at 9:20.

Unlike much of the SW it hasn't been a wet month here. So far 64% of normal  Drier still at John Chappell's Lands End site, bit wetter just a few miles east at Camborne (83%). Then 100% at Cardinham (Bodmin Moor) 135% at Plymouth.

Temperature anomaly +0.4C currently, but that's set to rise a fair bit.

Bit warmer today. Now 24C at Land's End airport, where people are stuck due to a bank of sea fog affecting Scilly.

Maximum (so far) in Penzance 24.2C, warmest day of the year.

Brief sharp shower 04:00, also distant lightning. Only 0.4mm of rain. Almost unbroken sunshine since dawn, just a little Ac castellanus.

Some spectacular lightning last night near Scilly. St Mary's looking NW across Samson508694905_2182632945491364_394523569017134748_n.jpg
