For anyone interested, live weather from Scilly, 30 miles SW of Lands End.
Wind speeds are rather more representative than those at the MetO site at the airport - Scilly equivalent of Gwennap Head!

"About to set in" reminds me of an occasion many years ago. My wife was waiting to hang some washing out, and I was watching the radar for the clearance.
"OK now" I said (from the radar paint). Her reply: "Have you looked outside?" It was still pouring.
