Penzance - Thunderstorm.

Up until 7am this moring I had only recorded 5.3mm of rain this month, then we had a thunderstorm. Several rumbles and two close flashes. 8.9mm rain in around 30minutes.

It's been dry with sunny spells since, maximum 20.8C. Third wettest day of the summer even if it did only rain for 30 minutes.

Still a big swell and many beaches still red flagged.

Torrential rain yesterday evening dropped a further 34.8mm, almost entirely in a 90 minute period.

It was set to be my 2nd driest summer (June/July/August) in the last 34 years, not anymore. Significant flooding in Hugh Town, Scilly.

Still not cool though. Maximum of 20.6C today in strong sunshine (between a couple of sharp showers) felt pleasant enough.
