'Heavy snow showers and drifting of lying snow in the strong easterly winds will become more widespread across the area later on Wednesday afternoon, through the evening and overnight into Thursday. Roads will become blocked by deep snow, with many stranded vehicles and passengers. Long delays and cancellations on bus, rail and air travel are expected. Some communities could become cut off for several days. Long interruptions to power supplies and other services.'

I've had enough already. I had to cancel a hospital appointment today and am already worried about getting to Edinburgh airport on Sunday. But it looks relentless.

Written from cardio-thoracic ward,Royal Edinburgh Infirmary. Heavy snow showers+gusty winds gave impressive blowing snow this afternoon with a background temperature of -5C.
Many staff and visitors began leaving around midday. Ah, the joys oh having the car park to look at.

I hope your stay is comfortable but you'll be observing back at home shortly.

Thank you chaps. In my NHS journey of the last 18 years I have been so impressed by NHS England and NHS Scotland. Care, compassion and expertise with good humour aplenty.
The Red Weather Warning was spot on for here. I've only seen such conditions a handful of times in my life.
Finally, a cautionary word. My discovery of a long nodule was an 'Incidental Discovery' noticed on a routine cardiac scan-no lung cancer symptoms whatsover. It's a situation where the standard response is to remove the affected part of the lung before things spread. From Consultation to major surgery in just a few days.

Stay well

Good luck, George. Fancy missing observing all this snow and having to rely on your deputy ;0)

All the best George.
On the positive side, nice to be tucked up in a nice warm hospital.
It's perishingly cold outside.
Even in normally balmy South Devon.

Best wishes, George.  I hope all is well again soon.
