Back in 1993, in a 'global warming' type thread, I posted this
Global warning is the great escape clause now. The road serving Mousehole runs along the coast from Newlyn. There is no practical alternative. It's been slowly slipping into the sea since before COVID. In 2021.jpg?part=0.1&view=1)
Since that picture they did 'remedial work', they just replaced the fence.
Needless to say, the fence wasn't strong enough to hold up the cliff, and it's slipped so much that they've now had to close the road to Mousehole, in summer, because the inevitable has happened. They are having to crane in shipping containers and backfill with concrete, which sounds a typical unplanned emergency reaction. Absolute traffic chaos.
Meanwhile Cornwall LIve etc. are licking up the normal "We have had to do remedial work which is progressing well". press release.
Wait for them to blame "the recent heavy rainfall", which we missed. Nothing to do with ignoring the issue for more than a decade.
