West Cornwall - Sunniest on the coast mrning.

. . and warmer too. Around 20-21C on the sunny beaches, only 18C or so under the inland Sc & Cu. Means Scilly is warmer than most of mainland Devon and Cornwall.

On Scilly 21C on St Martins, 20C at St Mary's hill top airport. Also near 21C at Sennen and Penzance. But just inland noticeably cooler. 17C at Camborne & Cardingham, only 16C at Liscombe (Devon). Temperatures circa 13:00. This a feature of the climate of the SW after a heatwave, and more generally during unstable conditions mid/late summer, it's often warmest right on the coast. A feature the models have yet to pick up on.

So warm and pleasant on the sunny beaches. Sennen 11:00, looking seaward.

Inland thicker cloud soon forms.

Fairly big swell today, 6-8' at times. Part of the beach red flag, only a small swimming area, which is being carefully monitored by the RNLI lifeguards. With the sea now so warm, people can stay in a long time and get adventurous.

Very big, quite long period, clean swell this afternoon. 

Unfortunately for the surfers it's now red flagged - that's the issue with lifeguarded beaches! Still, soon be 5pm.
