It's far too hot.

Already approaching 30C in plces. Newquay 29C, Lands End 29C (despite a wind gusting >25mph), 28C at Lands End airport etc. (Temperatures late morning.) The MetO forecast for Bude has been upped to 32C. So much for Cornwall's very maritime climate, I think we need the jet stream back.

I was rather surprised to hear that yesterday's 31C at Plymouth was the first >30C since 2022. I think you got well over 30C in June Len? I know Plymouth is prone to a fresh sea breeze up the Tamar, must be the reason.

Yes, it may be breezy but the wind is warm and very humid. Raced above 30°C this morning. I've never recorded anything like the sustained heat of this summer so far. After the last heatwave in June, it didn't really cool down that much and day temperatures still mostly made it above 25°C.

Dewpoints back above 20°C today.

Day maximums this month so far:

1st =  25.1°C

2nd = 25.7°C

3rd = 24.4°C

4th = 27.4°C

5th = 29.2°C

6th = 30.1°C

7th = 32.7°C

8th = 31.2°C

9th = 33.1°C

10th = 31.5°C

11th = 31.9°C

Unlike in June, the nights have been cool(ish) but I believe that is about to change due to the breeze and day temperatures expected to stay above 30°C through to later next week. This could beat my warmest July of 2006.

Over 30C in Cornwall again today (Newquay). 

Nights have been muggy here, barely got below 20C the last couple of nights. I think Camborne's minimum was 19.7C last night. Wind's got very gusty this evening, at last it'll cool the house down more overnight.

Deliciously fresher air up here in Shropshire, with late afternoon dewpoints down to 6-8.  It was still hot this afternoon (29.1 max) but felt much more bearable than last week.  Wind picked up today too - F3-4 for most of the daylight hours, down to F2 now.  Minima have not been too bad in this heatwave - generally 14 or 15, but last night was 16.5 due to a stratocumulus layer courtesy of the North Sea.

GFS was pretty accurate, minimum of 20.1C here. It is quite windy this morning. Mean speed is a F4 nudging F5 and it is gusty. Something of a breakdown here imminent,  hopefully back to around 24C max tomorrow, with the wind off the sea, rather than straight down the peninsula.
