Up until yesterday no day this autumn /winter had failed to exceed 10C. The lowest maximum in November was 11C on 21st.
Yesterday, after a spell of fairly sunny days with light winds and the temperature into double figures, it reached just 6.9C. This was combined with cloud and a noticeable easterly wind. It really was a shock to the system. What's known here as a 'dark easterly' for very good reason.
Yesterday was the coldest day of the year by 1.1C, beating 8.8C on 22/1 & 6/3
Bring back the Atlantic I say, at least big seas and strong winds are more exciting.
