There's been no sea breeze today, and if anything the F1-3 offshore NNE is tending to increase a touch.

As a result, the hottest day of the year (so far) with a maximum of 26.6C. Hottest day since the all time record of 30.3C in August '22.

Maximum of 27.5C at John Chappell's site near Land's End, where the wind's also remained offshore, close to a record for that site.

SST at the Perranporth buoy in with a very gentle onshore wind now 19.2C. 18.0C at the Penzance buoy in a gentle offshore wind

The sea breeze has failed for two days running here. Yesterday there was a slight northerly and what sea breeze there was tried to move inland but just led to stall over us in which the temperature soared and so does the humidity. You are almost wishing for the sea breeze to win through but it didn't and we get stuck in doldrums. Temperature reached 30.6°C but it was the humidity that was the real problem, a dewpoint of 22°C made it rather clammy as my Gran would have said.

Good sea warming weather, getting up towards 22°C this afternoon at Dawlish. Helped by the last of the neap tides.

I went for a swim at Sidmouth yesterday and definitely no wetsuit required, it was all rather lovely.
