Previous record was 543 mm in 2014.

Yes, and Cornwalls biggest reservoir is only 80% full. Quite an achievement considering how much farmland is currently waterlogged or under water. At least we had normal sunshine in January, so you could cling to a tree to stay upright and get a suntan, until the tree got blown over.

It has been a lovely day today, currently almost cloudless. Blustery though. 

I love the way DB gives rainfall for Dartmoor, without any indication of where it might actually be (the recording station thay it, not Dartmoor).

Yes it is very sloppy of DB not mentioning where on Dartmoor. I have questioned him on this in the past and sometimes he has given the location. e.g. Princetown. But there are other places of course.
