Just who are the headlines in TV weather forecasts for?
It's quite obvious that this morning's headlines for this weekend are not intended for anyone living outside England and Wales.
I know it must be difficult to dream up a short headline to cover a couple of days in the UK, but wouldn't Changeable and windy in the north - fine and warm further south be a little more accurate even if it does take 11 rather than 5 words?
As you can probably tell that even after being north of the border for a full 12 months the parochialism of the national weather forecasts still irks.
I’m just back from six days in Orkney. The Northern Isles are ignored almost completely. I had to resort to looking at the sky to make a forecast!!! In general, I was pretty accurate.
More later with some typical Orkney autumn weather pictures but only just back home so a lot of catching up to do first.
