The next named storm was due to be Floris, but it seems to have been named Floriane.
Is this by the Danes and Norwegians? It affects the Netherlands as well though.Firefox_Screenshot_2025-01-06T15-36-26.080Z.png

The French named it.

Yes, named on the 2nd, but it was a poor guess by the French that it would impact them.
Countries affected:
United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany.
No mention of it by UK.

I think it was named for expected high winds but earlier Wikipedia didn't know how high those speeds had been.

Saved the Met Office and Denmark the job of naming it.

The first I knew of it was when the Dutch had it named on their chart.
I am not sure Met Office mentioned it on their charts or elsewhere, so were presumably not concerned of impacts.

Naming it was contemplated - but the French got in first.

So as the French named it the UK Met Office did not bother to mention it to the British public.

I disagree - I heard it mentioned in more than one Met Office broadcast.
