Up until yesterday evening Storm Bert hadn't produced anything really special. Certainly windy but only 8 or 9mm of rain.

However around 4am this moring conditions were horrendous, with strong gusts & torrential rain. Gust to 65mph at near Lands End. Sadly no wind report from Gwennap Head, but it certainly would have been >70mph, possibly near 80mph. Wind dropped dramatically around 6am.

30.5mm in the 24 hours to 09:00, 2nd wettest 09:00-09:00 period this year after 31.2mm on 16/10. 34.2mm for the event so far, and it's still raining.

Penlee lifeboat went out yesterday to give some bew crew experience of 'wild' conditions!

Plenty of pictures of Penzance prom on the local news. The swell's been building all day.

I went to drive along at high tide & thought better of it, too much debris being thrown over.
