Up until yesterday evening Storm Bert hadn't produced anything really special. Certainly windy but only 8 or 9mm of rain.
However around 4am this moring conditions were horrendous, with strong gusts & torrential rain. Gust to 65mph at near Lands End. Sadly no wind report from Gwennap Head, but it certainly would have been >70mph, possibly near 80mph. Wind dropped dramatically around 6am.
30.5mm in the 24 hours to 09:00, 2nd wettest 09:00-09:00 period this year after 31.2mm on 16/10. 34.2mm for the event so far, and it's still raining.
Penlee lifeboat went out yesterday to give some bew crew experience of 'wild' conditions!
