The second warmest May since 1878 in central England

The mean maximum temperature for May (18.73°C) made it the second warmest since 1878 in central England.

Whilst the mean temperature of 13.19°C for May (anomaly +2.03°C) made it only the 17th warmest since 1659 and a shade lower than May last year.

It is interesting the most of the highest mean figures are in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Yet the mean is increasing, obviously due to a reduction in low temperatures.
An indication of the climate becoming less extreme, at least in May.
