Thank you for your email on misinformation around climate change.

You have provided a thorough critique of the post from the Cornwall Alliance, pointing out the issues with how they present climate change. We have seen many of these claims before and we see them raised repeatedly, in spite of repeated critiques and new evidence of the impacts of climate change.

It is important to continue to use authoritative facts and findings around climate change. Some excellent sources for this are the reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), in which the Met Office Hadley Centre has played a key role. The IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report provides the latest overview of the state of climate science.

The Met Office website also includes a great deal of information on climate change, its causes and its impacts, as well as a page answering the most common questions we receive about climate change. You might also be interested in posts from climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe, who has written extensively about the intersection between climate science and faith.

What question did you ask?

I sent an email critiquing this - which can, at the time of writing, be read underneath the article:

The Church has 'previous'.  Recall the time when the Sun went round the Earth.

I make every effort to ignore religion, but sometimes it intrudes on everyday life.

Thanks for the context, Ashley.  The article appears heavy with confirmation bias IMO.  Was that your opinion too?

It certainly does, sadly frequently overflowing into wars - and troubles. There's nobody more dangerous than somebody who is always totally convinced they are right.

At least everyday life is starting to impact on religion. Sennen Methodist chapel (Methodism is easily the biggest religion in west Cornwall, amongst believers).,

Possibly the only surfboard cross in the UK. The flags are normally only up when the lifeguards are on duty.

Treeless landscape for obvious reasons, you could sea America if the Earth was flat.

Thanks for the link. it was much as I expected.

Whilst not supporting the article in any way whatsoever, sometimes climate change is blamed for everything, or statements are made to support or blame climate change which are untrue, which gives deniers ammunition. I think that failed attempts to reduce CO2 output have achieved the bulk of media attention, meanwhile the remaining equatorial rainforest sink is quietly disappearing at a record rate. Sometimes to be replaced by environmentally catastrophic palm oil plantations, which are then claimed as carbon offsetting by the most polluting companies. You couldn't make it up, bit sad really.

"Treeless landscape for obvious reasons, you could sea America if the Earth was flat."

Pity the Earth isn't flat.  From that distance, America would look rather small and insignificant
