Coldest night of the year in London and parts of Surrey. I've said it before - if the London areas was not built-up, it would be a great frost-hollow.
Temperatures remained low until about 04-05h when they rose to ~ -1 C in London and Surrey as stratus formed overhead. At 11h. all temps at MO observing sites in this area remained below zero, even St. James' Park. As to min temps, -4.0C was typical of the western suburbs of London and Heathrow had it's coldest night of the year with -3.2C. The previous lowest had been 21 Jan with just -2.1C.

https://www.cpc.ncep...cts/timeseries/Min here in Molesey of -3.8C, the same as Teddington across the river from me. -4.0 at Chertsey and Iver Water Works.
Grey stratussy gloom here, though my temp now crawling above 0.
Much attention being given to Topcliffe's low minlast night - -7.5C - but it is in a world of it's own in a surface inversion, despite only being slightly lower than Leeming, up the road. ( -4.3C last night).
