Each evening Colin and I chat about the extremes data and the behaviour of Pershore synop station is a frequent topic of conversation on days with a NW flow and sunny spells. This situation pushes Pershore around 2degC warmer than surrounding climate stations, of which there are many.

What Colin did not admit to tonight is that he censored the Pershore max of 24.9C -quite rightly in my opinion.  It is being circulated on other websites incl the MO daily twitter summary of extremes. As ever, a useful discussion ensues on X / twitter and two of us there have asked the MO for their thoughts.
