I had been watching the forecasts for the much-needed rain Wednesday/Thursday.   In the end we got19mms.  That is not the point of this post.

The various computer forecast had been wildly at odds.  But as I have noticed before, Ventusky was quite the most accurate and in fact spot on.  Ventusky  - with details such as cloud at various levels, dewpoints, etc - is in my opinion in a class of its own.  And it's free.

Ventusky isn't a forecast model itself - it is a model data visualisation service.  It gets its data from a variety of sources - primarily DWD (ICON model) and NOAA (GFS model).  Other model data (such as UK Met Office) is also available for visualisation.

It might be a 'visualization' but it certainly simplifies the understanding of what to expect.

As regards visualisation, windy.com does the same thing as ventusky.
And especially for you Jack, there is an aircraft for you to click on. Just move the slider and it takes you to different levels.

I have used 'windy' but I find the graphics rather garish and irritating.

Cold sunshine today but it didn't last.
