Meanwhile, in Penzance, it's now the warmest May since 1998! Nothing to challenge Len's 24C though.

It could do with being a bit less breezy at times, but overall 3 lovely weeks.

In south Shropshire we have just had a run of 9 consecutive 20+ days - today's 18.7 max (so far) is the coolest since 17.7 on the 16th.  Having said that, there have been some pretty chilly nights with three ground frosts and several near misses.  I love weather like this - dry, not too warm, some cold nights (with short-lived fog around dawn), the odd grass frost, and most of the time a refreshing breeze.  Beats summer heat and humidity IMO.

14 consecutive days here with +20°C (16th - 29th) and 18 days over 20°C since the 1st.

1st - 11th = 80.6 mm rain, nothing since.

Since the 11th it has been very sunny and the monthly total is now at 264 hours. 11th - 29th = 214 hours which is 75% of the total possible.

Mean maximum (1st - 29th) = 20.1°C

Mean minimum = 8.1°C

Mean = 14.1°C.

Warmest day = 28th (24.6°C).

This will end up my warmest May since that other remarkable May of 2008 (mean 14.9°C).
