It's been noticeable this year just how many thunderstorms and very heavy showers occur around Edinburgh.
Lo and behold the first thunderstorm of the day seems to have been there again.

A few rumbles this afternoon and just 1 mm precipitation here. The action seems to have been well to the east over E.Lothian and parts of Berwickshire. . According to Weather Underground the Stirling area as well but WU is the source and they do strange things to rainfall accumulations.

Still rumbling away but tending to edge south-eastwards away from here now. Between 1600 and 1700 GMT much TS activity very close with bursts of heavy rain. Needless to say Edinburgh roads were flooded with much traffic congestion particularly in the west and around the by-pass.
The sort of thunderstorms which take me back to Epping days. Certainly the most impressive since moving here in 2014.

Estimated 06-18 rainfall totals for today, luckily Strathpeffer has between the two streams of showers coming down from the NNW, but  Speyside seems to have taken the brunt of another soaking with totals in some places in excess of 50 mm.

The BBC presenters are already going into hyperdrive about Friday's low saying how very unusual it is (really?) and missing the severe weather that's happening right now in Scotland.
