I am reminded of one winter's night when going home to Banchory, I called in a pub on the way back from Aberdeen airport.Behind the bar was a thermometer. The scale went down to -
40°C. I made a light-hearted comment
The publican - realising that I had an English accent and might be a stranger - said in all seriousness:
"Ah, it does get cold in Scotland".
I wouldn't dispute that in can be cold in Scotland but -40°C in a bar!
