The publican of the highest pub in the UK, The Tan Hill Inn (Pennines), is positively looking forward to the extra trade from being snowed in. And lucky BBC reporter, Danny Savage who might get stuck in a pub for a few days - all in the line of duty.

I am reminded of one winter's night when going home to Banchory, I called in a pub on the way back from Aberdeen airport.
I wouldn't dispute that in can be cold in Scotland but -40°C in a bar!
Behind the bar was a thermometer. The scale went down to -
40°C. I made a light-hearted comment
The publican - realising that I had an English accent and might be a stranger - said in all seriousness:
"Ah, it does get cold in Scotland".
"Ah, it does get cold in Scotland".
I wouldn't dispute that in can be cold in Scotland but -40°C in a bar!
