Another gale here in west Cornwall, just on exposed coasts this time, and a F8 rather than Bella's F9 (F8 even in Penzance.)
It might only be just gale force, but there are some fierce gusts, up to 69mph earlier at St Ives. The wind's just in the right direction to funnel around Lands End, Sevenstone's (just off Lands End).
06:00 33mph
07:00 40mph
08:00 54mph (back to peak 'Bella' speeds)
10:00 47mph
11:00 49mph
Needless to say, no sailings to Scilly.
There was a decent lull in the wind during yesterday daytime when it was pleasant enough out in the sunshine (between brief rain/hail showers). Down to a F4 for a while.
So, the 2 strongest winds in Penzance, so far this Autumn/Winter, on consecutive days.
Atrocious sea conditions now. Air a mass of salt spray. Big shower approaching Sennen 13:30.
225.2mm of rain this month so far. The wettest December since 2012 (243.3mm) which it may yet beat, if we get a dangler tomorrow.
