Saw a faint rainbow (distant drizzle) at around 0915 this morning. At the time, the sun's altitude was 28° (rainbow radius is 42°) so I wouldn't have expected to see more than the top part.
But what did strike me and indeed also my wife, was that the width / thickness (NOT the radius) of the arc seemed greater than normal. This was probably an optical illusion but can the width of an arc vary?
