A noisy night here with a coastal gale. Wind gusted to 60mph at Gwennap & Lands End.
Also bursts of heavy rain, 13.4mm to 09:00 today. Wind has dropped sharply since 07:00, and rain now much lighter.
Around 4C much of the night (minimum 3.4C), so now snow this side of Bodmin Moor.
Now the winds dropped away it's obvious there's virtually no Atlantic swell
That's all set to change in a big way with a deep depression set to become slow moving over the Atlantic, gradualy building a bigger & bigger long period swell. 6m surf forecast for Sennen, but with the long period it will have a lot of energy.
Waves may have cleaned up slightly and become surfable in sheltered spots on Monday in Cornwall. (Say near Newquay harbour). Wave energy forecast for Monday. Peak in Cornwall probably overnight Monday / Tuesday.
