No issues with river levels as it's been dry for so long. But the rain was heavy enough this afternoon to cause minor flooding on even the major roads the roads, and there was a lot of spray.

Rainfall noon yesterday until 09:00 today 16.1mm. There's been another 19mm since, so total for the event so far 35mm. It's still (17:00) raining, but much lighter now. Since around 13:00 there's been a strong cold, northerly wind. Temperature just 7C mid afternoon. It's certainly completely emptied the camp sites

It's been a thoroughly awful day. However, both the farmers and SW Water will be pleased. The dairy herds need the rain for lush grass to grow. A serious issue as it could end up affecting the quaity of Cornish clotted cream.

I record rainfall 09:00 to 09:00, and the event was split over 2 days here in Penzance. )Roughly midday on Monday to midnight last night.)

Rainfall totals for 24 hours ending 09:00 on 15th - 16.0mm
Rainfall totals for 24 hours ending 09:00 on 16th - 26.6mm
Total for the event 42.6mm

It was so dry before, that despite rainfall totals well up to forecast levels, the flood alert for west Cornwall rivers was  unnecessary, apart from the immediate run off in the heaviest rain, they hardly rose. The stream that runs through the bottom of my garden (EA guage 300m upstream). It was higher than the peak much of the winter.

Notable was how cold it was during the afternoon. In the heaviest rain (noon to 4pm) it was only around 7C. The maximum temperature in the 24 hours to 09:00 today was 9.8C, and that was at 9am today.

Still, lovely sunny start to Wednesday

Now 15C. That’s 8C warmer than at the same time yesterday and well above BBC and MetO forecasts this morning. Largely unbroken sunshine, and only a few small fairly high cloud base Cu inland. Also light winds.

Lovely day, hard to imagine a bigger contrast to yesterday.

Bearing in mind today is much, much warmer across Cornwall (yesterday afternoon the coolesp spots in the UK were in Cornwall) , and the afternoon is warmer across Devon, perhaps the MetO forecast words for today could have been better

Any early cloud and rain clearing the north of the region during the morning. Becoming drier and brighter, with sunny spells into the afternoon. A few scattered showers likely. Breezy to start, then easing and feeling cooler.

I really don't think so! After all the rain & cold, it's a beach day. St Ives.

I should have said that was the forecast for SW England.

Agree. How can it feel colder in a  brilliant sunny day?
Max today 14.1C
