Why is this obvious (and age-old) practice not adopted more widely?
Near the River Severn in Tewkesbury, newer buildings are often built on raised ground so that while the road might flood, the houses don't.
False raided floors - the ideas to mitigate against flood damage must be endless.
I didn't mention building new houses on flood plains.
But there are continual moans about flooding in Carlisle or York as if nothing can be done, and it's "all their fault".
