...can of course manifest itself as classic lenticular clouds. But far more often, it is like this:
Notice how the 'new' cloud keeps forming in approximately the same place. This is a glider pilot's delight. Unfortunately, at Aboyne, Scotland today, the wind was too strong across the runway to be able to take off. Some 40 years ago I did a bad landing in similar conditions. Big repair job. (The glider, not me!)
