With the wind lighter than forecast & aligned with the peninsula, any thin cloud largely (but not completely) dissipated as the air descended into Mount's Bay, resulting in a maximum (so far) of 17.1C, the warmest day of April and a full 1C higher than any day over the Bank holiday weekend.
This rather demonstrates how the models, although accurate in general terms, have struggled with the detail recently. Two days ago it was forecast to be cooler, cloudy & windy here in the extreme south today. The MetO are still forecasting a max of 14C for Penzance with the wind gusting >30mph. In fact it's now dropped a bit, F3 at most, similar up at Camborne. Strongest gust here today 16mph, very sheltered with the wind perfectly aligned with the peninsula. Much breezier just offshore, and up at Culdrose, always out on it's own in an easterly.
The last 2 days have been lovely weatherwise.
Waiting for the next set, Perranuthnoe 13:45 Just enough breeze to ruffle the surface.
The bank holiday visitors have largely departed, leaving the car park in the safe hands of surfers. Some small low cloud based Cu inland, the thin low cloud being insufficient to kill the convection
