We did have a shower just after 11am, at a stretch it dropped 0.1mm, but only just.

Plenty of sunshine now. Breezy but with the temperature now climbing into the mid 20s (highest on the sunnier coasts, bit cooler under the cloud inland) it's another good beach day for the visitors.

Our chance of getting enough rain to form a puddle seems to be fading

Sorry, that picture wasn't live, but it was sunny - honest! Temperature climbed to 23.8C during the sunshine, before being stopped by a light shower 15:15, not measurable.

An amazing 1.6 mm here at 1330 BST. Quite a wetting.
It was exciting to see proper rain although rather briefly.

1.8mm of rain last night bringing the total this month to 1.9mm! Pleased to see a dry spell is on the way https://weather.metoffice.gov.uk/forecast/gbvn9cv4h#?date=2026-08-05 (Though Sunday's forecast seem slightly optimistic based on the MetO fax chart for the day. Another terminally ill front I suppose)

A friend of my wife said yesterday that 'the clouds seem to have forgotten how to rain'.

A lovely human take on the situation I thought.
Not sure the clouds would listen to me though even if I gave them a few hints.

Even the usual rain dance isn't working  - I think they call it cricket.
