I arrived at Sennen at 10:30 this morning, the lifeguards had decided to red flag the beach. They are getting a bit risk adverse in my opinion, not very big & almost calm on the beach (see the limp red flag.) So no strong onshore wind to blow in surface water & accentuate RIPs.
I remember the good old days when the equipment was a board & binoculars (mainly used to watch the girls - it was the topless on the beach era). Then the red flag was reserved for extreme conditions, not a bit of a swell. A day like today you'd red flag where a rip looked likely, and mark out a smallish swimming/bodyboarding area & keep a close eye on anybody going in.
