And huge snowdrifts further east as the winds rose - the first photo seems incredible to me.

Goodness!

I was prepared for drifts but the ones I came across today were minor. The wind was surprisingly light but there was a definite mountain wave effect so the gentle winds might only have been local. The wind has got up considerably this afternoon but much of the snow has already gone (sublimated).
