Water temperatures in the Mediterranean are already 28°C, and in places 29°C, and are forecast to remain at or above that level, over a much larger area.
Highly unlikely, but are tropical cyclones out of the question? Have they ever occurred in the Med the past?
I Googled. The answer is yes, they have. Known as Medicanes (a combination word) and have resulted in floods, wind damage, and deaths, especially in the Malta/Sicily region.
But they are short-lived and soon reach land, where they peter out.
