Car windscreen before setting out.

Clear blue sky (Lochindorb Lodge in the distance).

But in the opposite direction to the west and northwest where more moisture in  upper atmosphere, contrails formed clouds mixed with distant frontal clouds.

Here is one of the culprits.

Lufthansa Airbus 340 Frankfurt to Chicago at Flight Level 340 (34,000 feet).

Near the beginning you'll see my 'German friend' on his way to Chicago.  Later in the two-hour time lapse, (>>> 48 seconds) the spread out contrails are apparent.
