Currently a F6-8 across west Cornwall. F6 here in Penzance, F8 at Lands End where there have been gusts >60mph.

At the moment little real swell, but a very powerful swell on the way.
Primary swell at Sennen
2-3ft & a pathetic 8secs @ 06:00
Forecast 20ft & 15 sec @ 6pm.

Certainly the most powerful swell for at least 2 months.

Reached 16.2C in yesterday's pleasant sunshine. Still a noticeable NW breeze though, certainly a noticeable wind this morning!

This photo off the webcam @ 09:30 shows just how sheltered Sennen is in a generally near gale SW, despite only being 1 mile from Lands End. It's the shelter in a SW wind which sometimes brings the sand in as a strong counter current forms from the Gwenver (far) end. It also means the swell (of which there's very little this morning, too big for the sane this afternoon!) is often much cleaner than you would expect.

Swell height at Sevenstone's off Lands End
3.3ft @ 03:00
22.3 ft @ 15:00 That's on a par with the biggest swell last winter.

The Jubilee pool at Penzance had one of it's rare closures due to weather, in fact the 1st time it's been forced to close since re-opening on 6th April. Not just the wind, as approaching the pool entrance along the prom was a bit of an issue

Much smaller swell now. Significant wave height (biggest swells would have been approx 50% bigger) peaked at 24'. Now down to 11ft, with a much shorter period. The wind's remained very strong all day though. Lands End saw a 66mph gust @ 12:45.

Less rain here than predicted
4.2mm in the 3 days (72 hours) ending 09:00 today
5.5mm in the 5 days ending 09:00 today
Only 0.3mm since.

Kept passing to the north (just)
