8 consecutive minima below 0°C here at Warlingham 11th - 18th. First time this has happened in April in a record going back to 1983. None of the minima were exceptional in themselves. Possibly another one tonight.

Another frost this morning, Tmin -1.1C. 15 for the month. The run of consecutive frosts came to an end yesterday though at 10. My record is 13 (17-29/01/2017). Total rainfall this month is 0.6mm.

Tmin -0.6C, 17th air frost, mean min -0.3C. Only 2 months have been frostier in my records, Jan 2017 and Feb 2018, both had 22 air frosts.

Final count is 19 air frosts (previous record 7) and a mean min of -0.03C (previous record +2.4C).
This April also broke my records for lowest min, lowest average max, lowest absolute max, lowest mean temp and lowest rainfall.

April 2021 ended up with 17 air frosts and 22 ground frosts, albeit that all were slight.
A combination of dust dry sandy soils in a sheltered river valley location with just about every night being calm, clear and starry. Quite amazing given the proximity of the sea.
No frost damage; apple blossom is weeks behind and the cherry blossom was unaffected. My vines are just starting to bud, normally by now they are in leaf.
This is the most air and ground frosts since December 2010.

Final total here was 21 air frosts and 25 ground frosts. Some of the frosts were moderate. It has become commonplace to see frost on the grass until about 0800 local. May has started in the same vein, with a minimum of -2.8 this morning and a hoar frost.
